The First Taiwanese BLT's are on the water!!!!

The First Shipment of Taiwanese BLT Frames (Basic Loaded Touring) are on the water on the "Ever Eagle".

It has been almost a year in finalizing the production, with 3 prototypes.
Finally, a more affordable frame with all the same tubing, dropouts, design and features of the Rock 'n Road Tour that I have been building for 21 years including Bruce Gordon Racks. Many riders have considered my touring bikes to be the "Gold Standard" for years, but were priced beyond their budget.
I had a couple of frames from the first production run airshipped to be shown at Interbike in Las Vegas at the end of this month. The rest of the frames should be in my shop by the end of September.
They look GREAT!!
I have decided to "Spice" them up by offering them with Blue Racks. However, if that is "Too Spicy" - you can order one with Black Racks as picture on my Web Page -

This is the Packaged Deal - What you get is a Frame, Fork, Headset, and Quill Stem (made in Taiwan) + Front and Rear Bruce Gordon Racks (made in California) all for $975 + shipping.

I also have a small quantity of Shimano LX Group Kits on order that are due to arrive early in October. All the parts to build up a complete bike including wheels, will be available for approximately $700.
That means that you can build up a complete bike with Bruce Gordon Racks for about $1675 + shipping and handling

  1. I'm tempted. Looks quite nice and I'm sure you'll do gangbusters business. Can you say a little about the wheels? Handbuilt? Rims? Tires? In fact, more info about the LX setup would be nice.

  2. I'll try to answer your questions.
The wheels are 36 hole 2010 Deore LX, with 14 guage Stainless Spokes, and Alex Adventure rims. The tires are Schwalbe Marathons and a 11-34 cassette.
The wheels are made in Taiwan - they are hand laced, Machine Tensioned, and finally trued by hand.
The Parts Group are the 2010 Deore LX 661 series, with Shimano R-550 Cantilevers, and 9 speed Barend shifters.
The New 2010 LX Group is what the Europeans call a "Trekking" (Touring) Group.
Here is a link to Shimano's page:

  3. Great looking, classic touring frame. The blue racks really make the bike unique and set it apart from others. I like the quill stem.

  4. Hello,

I'm interested in your frames, but it seems like your main site has been down for almost a week. Is the site dead, or is it only down temporarily. I'm looking forward to being able to peruse it and see what you have on offer.

    Best,

    Rob

  6. Hi Bruce, Congratulations on the new frames. I'm sure you will do great with them. Is there an option to get the bike with the highriding mountain front rack instead of the stock front rack?
    thanks, Jason

  7. The 2 smallest sizes have braze ons for the high front rack that is designed for 26" wheels.
In the future we will offer a High Front Rack that is high enough for 700c wheels.
    Regards,
    Bruce Gordon

  12. Hi Bruce,

I would call, but I´m riding the Andes at the moment at the same time as thinking about my next bike and trip. I´ve ridden from Vancouver Canada and am now in Peru, with 17,000km on a pretty fully loaded bike. I´m running 700c wheels and tires are impossibe to find here.

I would really like a Basic Loaded Tourer for the next trip, but I´d also like 26¨ wheels (for strength as well as parts availability). I´d need a larger frame size. Can the larger sizes run 26¨wheels?

    Many thanks,
    Ian.
